My Students

I teach and serve as an Instructional Coach at a Title I School in Charlotte, North Carolina where 100% of our students receive free and reduced lunch. Many students are given school supplies and backpacks from local charities to help get them ready for the school year.

Despite the obstacles in their lives, my students have dreams of becoming leaders and world changers.

They are eager to learn and understand and to become all they were meant to be. My students know that they can succeed.

My Project

Being a National Board certified teacher has opened many professional doors and has continuously allowed me to grow and improve as an educator. Maintaining my certificate will allow me to continue that process of growth both for the students I directly teach and for the teachers that are part of my coaching tree.

The National Board’s Maintenance of Certification (MOC) process is designed based on best assessment practices and by teachers to ensure that National Board Certified Teachers continue to grow professionally while maintaining a strong impact on student learning.

MOC is the pathway for NBCTs to keep their certification active. Successfully meeting MOC requirements will extend my certificate by five years. Completing this journey will allow me to reflect on the experiences and professional development since I was certified in 2013.

National Board certified teachers have been proven to be more effective in the classroom and I want to continue in that path. Giving my students and teachers my best daily means I need to continue to grow in my craft. The MOC is the most effective and efficient way to do that.
