Help me give my students the supplies they need in order to create their Iditarod project. The students will learn about Alaska and the dog sled team relationship through the story The Call of the Wild.
My 5th and 6th-grade students are an amazing group of learners. The children work twice as hard to reach goals that most other students take for granted. Even though my students struggle in reading I believe that the more exposure they have to good literature the more enriched their lives become.
It brings a smile to your face when you see the shine in their eyes when it is time to open a new novel and get acquainted with their new characters.
My students are special education students. Have a variety of materials to learn and display their understanding of Alaska and the dog sled relationship would motivate them and show others how much they really enjoy learning.
The students have heard me talk about the Iditarod and the story, The Call of the Wild, and want to do a unit this year that incorporates these projects.
The students who will be participating in this project are very enthusiastic and enjoy reading novels. For many of them, reading and writing is a struggle so having books on tape and art supplies to help in their sharing of their knowledge on these topics will greatly benefit them academically and socially.
