This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.

My Project

I teach an amazing class of students with special needs. The impact we have seen from having Josh, the bearded dragon, staying in our class has been amazing. We share him with another classroom, he has outgrown his cage, and we could greatly benefit from a reptile tank in each classroom!

The care and love the scholars give Josh encourages a highly reinforcing classroom and has amazing social-emotional benefits.

We have learned that bearded dragons need love, heat, attention, care, food, water, and kindness. There are vast amounts of learning opportunities about how we should treat pets and eachother!

Josh has also given us wonderful hands-on learning opportunities for science. The joy my scholars receive from having such a loving classroom pet with a great personality is very exciting to watch as a teacher! Please help us provide Josh with the habitat he needs now that he has outgrown his juvenile tank. Thank you!
