This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
When asked what keeps them going through challenging times, many of my music students respond, "MUSIC!" Whether they are listening to uplifting melodies in a pair of headphones or working on their next solo songwriting project, my students share their love of music enthusiastically and joyfully.
This year, our music students will perform original and cover songs in our end of year Music Jam.
We are in need of hand drums and quality-sounding pianos to help our students musical creativity and expression come to life. With the gift of this djembe drum and digital piano, students will be able to collaborate and play together as they create music for this performance. The djembe drum is versatile and portable which will make set-up and playing a breeze! The digital piano is a full size keyboard which allows our students to rehearse bass lines and melodies with a partner.
Not only can students play these instruments during class rehearsals, they can use these high-quality instruments to perform for our audience this spring! These instruments would also last into future years of our music program, allowing even more students the gift of music making in community.
