Celebrate Black Teachers and Students

This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.

My Students

My school is located in a rural area on the outskirts of a larger city. We are a school-wide Title I school and district with very limited tax revenue. Our county does not even have commercial retail outlets to generate funding for our town or schools.

The school is located in a high poverty area in the Alabama "Black Belt." Many of the poorest schools and districts in the country are located here.

However, our students are eager to play and participate in sports. Many times limited funding does not allow for the purchase of basic equipment needed, both in preparation for competition and on the field of play. This hinders the development of our athletes to their full potential.

With your support, we are excited to see what the future will bring for these students.

My Project

An essential part of playing any team sport is being able to look like a team. Our football team needs the basic gear in order to play football, JERSEYS! The jerseys will help us play and compete like a team. This would be one less thing we will have to worry about as we concentrate on team building and practicing for the upcoming season.

With your help and the awesome match from Dick's, we can purchase the jerseys to help our team feel confident as a unit!

A jersey might seems like nothing but it fills our players with a sense of pride to represent something bigger than themselves.
