This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

The curriculum of Japanese Language and Culture is to teach students how to read and write the three styles Japanese script. Traditionally, we've used pen and paper or whiteboard and markers. This product, PH PandaHall 12pcs Chinese Calligraphy Set, provides students with the opportunity to use a traditional brush. This technique uses water in place of ink for a clean and enjoyable experience. The brush adds a "art" quality or characteristic. Students learn more about the Japanese Culture by practicing the traditional writing system of ancient Japan as well as the artistic style of Calligraphy. Student study and begin to understand the rules for writing each character.

The main goal for this project is to help students learn the Japanese Characters; Experience culture through Calligraphy; and practice.

The students at CHS in Las Vegas, Nevada are classified as coming from low income households or "Title 1." These students are interested in Japanese culture, anime, and manga. Many students study for at least two-years in the Japanese Language and Culture Classes. Some continue to the Level 3 and AP course to try and earn college credit.
