My school has an urban population with over 75% of our students receiving free or reduced lunches. Part of the students at school are refugees who speak little to no English.
Despite these financial and language obstacles, the students are very eager to learn and want to succeed!
The students are very excited each day they come to class to see what activity is planned. My students are active and want to participate each day. While they may not have it all at home, I want to be able to give them every opportunity to be physically fit while they are in my classroom and help them reach 60 minutes of activity each day.
My Project
KanJam is a new game that incorporates Frisbee skills as well as teamwork. Students will work together to score points while increasing their throwing accuracy. With the large number of students in p.e. class, KanJam is great way to get students moving and interacting during p.e.
Students will build cooperation and teamwork skills, while also working on their life-time fitness activities.
KanJam is similar to corn hole, but partners try to help score points after their teammate throws the Frisbee. This new game and discs will give students another way to be active and engaged in physical education class. Jamming their way to fitness!
