My Project

Our 5th grade scholars are growing their reading skills every day, and we want to create a cozy, welcoming space that makes them excited to read. This project will help us add engaging books to our classroom library and create a comfortable reading corner with beanbag chairs, a soft carpet, and cushions where students can relax and focus on reading.

In addition to books, we are including board games to encourage scholars to put down video games for a while and engage in hands-on, face-to-face learning.

Many students are used to learning games through screens or trial and error, but these board games require them to slow down, read, and follow written directions. By playing games they may not have played before, or may not have played correctly, students will practice understanding informational (procedural) text, following multi-step instructions, and applying what they read to real-life situations. This helps strengthen comprehension, attention to detail, and perseverance, all while making learning fun and interactive.

With your support, our classroom will become a place where students feel comfortable, motivated, and excited to grow as readers. Thank you for helping us create a learning space where literacy is fun and meaningful!
