Jackson Pollock Clay Pots

Help me give my students materials to create Jackson Pollock inspired clay bowls!

Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

I absolutely love teaching art to my Kindergarten-Fifth grade kids. My students are huge fans of art class and enjoy each and every lesson we do together. I strive to help them develop and grow their SEL skills through each lesson I deliver.

Right now, we are needing social-emotional support more than ever and creating art is an excellent outlet!

I integrate SEL via my lessons leveraging literature and various other resources. I love to watch my students grow through trying new art techniques and not only discover a new skill but discover something new about themselves. Each and every project we engage in fosters individualism and promotes self-expression.

My Project

I would love to teach my K-2nd graders how to manipulate and work with clay. I will first teach my students about Jackson Pollock and his technique of action-painting. We will then move onto clay and modeling basics using modeling clay.

My kids love to play, manipulate and experiment with clay!

Each student will be given a ball of white model magic clay. They will first create their pots and will then add vibrant marker colors and watercolors to their clay pieces. Once dry, the students will then splatter their clay pots using the Jackson Pollock action-painting method using metallic colors. The various types of mod podge sealants will be used to seal the pots to keep their shape and beautiful colors for years to come!
