Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My students are eager to learn and win academically but do not have the necessary tools for success but have the desire to succeed if given the opportunity. The majority of our schools students enter a new grade in August reading well below grade level. In order for them to succeed academically, my students have to have numerous methods in which to learn! Many of my students read well below grade level. Using technology in the classroom would allow them access to differentiated levels of books not currently available in print.
My goal is to provide my students a positive learning environment that will ensure them a continued path to academic success!
Every time my students have the opportunity to utilize technology as part of their learning it is a step in the right direction for their academic success.
My Project
My students have never been given the opportunity to participate in a novel study! Giving my students a chance to participate in a novel study will open the door to engaging them in the enjoyment that reading a great novel brings. The One and Only Ivan written by Kathryn Applegate is an excellent novel for 4th grade students to explore. This novel allows my young readers to connect their own lives to the lives of animals not so different from themselves. There are many life lessons to be learned from Ivan and his friends which my students can relate to.
