Celebrate Black Teachers and Students

This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.

My Project

Our student-athletes and coaches have been working hard to prepare for our second track season. Some of our students have never been on any type of sports team, and they are excited to be a part of the track team at our school. They have no uniforms, shoes, or any other equipment that is essential for a successful and well equipped track season. As you know track is a lot of running and jumping, and I would like our season to be as inclusive and well-equipped as possible. The water bottles, spiked shoes, and jerseys purchased will not only help them be uniformed, but it will also help boost the confidence of the entire team by enabling them to look like everyone else. Having new track materials will allow students to participate in conditioning and team events. Team sports can truly be beneficial to students physically, but socially and emotionally as well (SEL).

Sports teach students teamwork, preparation, practice, sportsmanship, discipline and dedication.

It can also teach them leadership skills and promote school spirit, which in turn extends to the classroom and overall school morale.

Our student-athletes will be prepared to give their all on the track field as a team. Please help this first-time coach provide all of the tools (track materials) needed for us to succeed. I believe that we can get there with your help.
