Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
It is always a challenge to find interesting ways to assess student knowledge. These days, they take so many written tests, that it is fun to do our testing in different ways.
One good way I've found to quiz students on the facts they've master is by playing Jeopardy. Currently, I make up questions and categories, write them on 3x5 cards, and teams of students answer questions. They enjoy it.
It would be fabulous to kick it up another notch and use a real Jeopardy game -- with all the bells and whistles. The game has buzzers for the contestants, ready-made questions for all grade levels, and the option for teachers to add questions and answers of our own. It looks and sounds like real TV Jeopardy.
This game will be shared by our 3rd, 4th and 5th grade classes. We will use it for science, math, language arts, and social studies assessments. Each teacher will be able to save their own questions/answers on extra game cartridges. Students will make up questions too.
