This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
Good readers are good thinkers! I'm a 4th grade general education teacher in a high-need school. 99% of my students qualify for free lunch and a majority do not speak English at home.
In a high-poverty area it is easy to be disconnected from the outside world. Most of my students do not have computers at home. Few could afford to pay for Time for Kids on their own and I do not have the classroom budget. However, my students show great enthusiasm for current events and world news.
Time for Kids is respected as one of the best literacy resources for the classroom. It integrates subjects (social studies, science, etc.) and makes them relevant to students. Time for Kids offers the connection between my high need students and the world at large. I plan to make Time for Kids an integral part of my reading and writing lesson planning throughout the year. I've seen the results it gets in other classrooms and I'm excited for the chance to use it in my own.
Many of my students have never left their neighborhoods. Reading is a powerful means of escape and exploration. Time for Kids is an incredible chance for my students to grow as readers AND as critical thinkers about the world around them. Whether it's stories about the presidential elections, global warming, or the rise of China, Time for Kids exposes students to important issues of the day while improving their reading skills and stamina. 4th grade is a pivotal year because of testing under No Child Left Behind. With the help of Time for Kids, I'm hoping you can turn that phrase "No Child Left Behind" into a reality.

After August 15th of current school year, pricing will remain in effect but TIME For Kids reserves the right to prorate issue quantity and free gifts.
