Our students and families are the heart of our school! It is an exceptional place with a diverse population both ethnically and socioeconomically. Our classroom is a place where they can spread their wings in a safe, fun environment. I offer flexible seating with wobble stools, stability balls, and pillows with low tables. Our classroom is their home away from home and I know that some days they spend more time with me, then they do with their own families. I am dedicated to making sure they feel comfortable, relaxed, and ready to learn everyday! They grow so much in this first year of school, and my number one priority is helping them to love school and giving them confidence as they start their educational journey!
My Project
Today's Kindergarten is all about hands on activities that our kiddos can get totally immersed in! 5 and 6 year olds learn about the world and how things work by doing! From math to measurement, planning to play, these items will help me bring real world objects into our classroom to increase learning and comprehension.
The items I would like in this Donors Choose project will give them many opportunities to learn and grow mathematically and spatially!
Items such as the Geostix and Brain Flakes will provide fine motor practice as well as helping them to flex their creative muscles! The Marble Run and bridges/construction sets will help my kids to learn to plan together and edit their work when those plans don't work out exactly how they wanted them to. They will also get to practice social skills and learn to problem solve with peers! I will make sure to use the items everyday during our "Morning Bin" time, as well as during specific reading and math projects!
