My Project

You walk into a restaurant and see so many prices. You have maybe $10.00 in your hand. What will you buy and how much will it cost? Money math naturally lends itself to decimal practice for adding and subtracting, but multiplication and division work also. This is a fundamental skill. The children learn the same things we learned in elementary school, but sometimes they understand it better. Let's keep up that trend. The decimal CCSS comes after the fraction standards. Therefore it is both a renewal and a revision.

Fractions and decimals are buddies; they go hand in hand.

Because it is a fundamental skill, we must ensure all children have access to meaningful instruction. My students have I.E.P.s and are not the only ones struggling in 4th and 5th-grade math. Yet they try, and when they understand a concept they light up. This project of ink, paper and a cash pack, would help take those 4th and 5th-grade CCSS standards for math to be more engaging. My students will light up with this learning.
