My Students

I am a third-grade teacher in an urban school setting. One hundred percent of my students participate in our free breakfast and lunch programs. Students in my room come from a variety of backgrounds and learning styles. My classroom is made up of both regular and special education students. Many of my students come from single-parent homes and have great difficulty bringing in basic school supplies.

My students have a variety of learning styles and backgrounds.

The majority of my students read below grade level. I would like my students to be able to expand their learning by using technology to reinforce, explore, and help them meet the high demands required for the third grade. I plan to engage my students in rigorous activities through high-quality reading, math, and writing by using technology and different apps in my lessons. I want my students to develop a love of learning, as well as prepare them for their future.

My Project

My students are glad to be back in person for the 2021-2022 school year. Throughout this pandemic, the students have done a nice job using technology. However, I am finding that many of my students are having difficulty navigating certain programs without the use of a mouse.

I believe that having a mouse for each computer will allow my students to easily navigate the different programs that require clicking on answers and highlighting portions of a text.

A mouse will help my students at school when they are taking standardized tests, as well as using Seesaw, Schoology, X-tra Math, and other approved computer programs.
