Why is college important? It is never to early to be thinking about and planning for your future.

Academic integration is the goal.

Education needs to make a connection between real life and their future. I teach approximately 100 middle school students Social Studies in a rural, low income community where over 2/3 of the student body receives free or reduced lunch benefits.

My Project

This grant would allow my students to combine Internet research (on the netbook computer) and career reference materials to find out what they are interested in. Personalities play a large part in who we are. By knowing more about ourselves we can start to make decisions about what we want to be. We need a netbook computer, 3 copies of "What Color is your Parachute?", 1 copy of "Do What You Are: Discover the Perfect Career for You Through the Secrets of Personality Type 4E", 1 copy of "Teach Like a Champion: 49 Techniques that Put Students on the Path to College" to be able to explore careers and colleges.

Without your help this will not be possible.

Career choices and college selection are huge decisions that we are expecting our students to make earlier in their lives than ever before.
