My Project

There is a lot of research out there that addresses the benefits of music experiences for kids. Learning music helps the brain and is relaxing and enjoyable. Learning music leads to "improved memory and memory activity".

Learning to play the recorder is a basic way to support brain health in children and open their world to possibly experiencing other musical instruments as they grow older.

Music experiences are limited in our school mainly due to funding. Musical instruments are very expensive. Learning to play the recorder not only enhances brain power but is an inexpensive way to expose students to the art of learning and playing their own music.

If this project is funded, my students will be blessed with a music lesson during their allotted weekly "Specials" time. It will give them something to look forward to every week. At the end of the school year, they will be able to take their instruments home to enjoy and perhaps play more advanced pieces.
