it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
Period, while being a natural bodily process, poses unique challenge for urban students. Many of my students come from conservative families that don't openly discuss topics of period and period care. A number of them do not have access to pads or tampons at home either due to personal or financial reasons. Providing open period products access have been my standard practice for the past five years. However, pads and tampons only addresses the most obvious need. Period cramps are invisible and yet incredibly painful and disruptive to student learning. Even though medication exists, we are not allowed to provide them to our kids.
Your contributions will help setup our classroom care center with larger supply of period products that includes different varieties for students to choose from as well as heating pads to ease period cramps.
The varieties of period products were chosen based on the input of my students so they are more comfortable using them. The heating pads include disposable and reusable ones to accommodate student preferences. My students helped me pick the heating pads that are in this campaign to ensure I'm addressing their needs.
I believe in free access to period products for all. Let's make sure we are not letting the fear of period stain and cramps stop our students from succeeding. Until the pink tax is abolished, I continue to provide effective, safe, free, and open access to period products for all.
