Celebrate Black Teachers and Students

This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.

My Project

My students are inner-city teens with scarce resources which limits them to accomplish things in life and exploring other options than this city presents.

I have an amazing group of students that want more in life and want to achieve more in life and they understand that education is the outlet to achieve those things.

I teach physical education and coach football, I incorporate careers and job opportunities so students can grasp all the capabilities of what sports can bring without being an athlete as well. I like to present students with roles and assignments such as the cameraman, videographer, trainer, analyst, and physical therapist, to name a few occupations. Those types of jobs will record and compare notes during our different class and school events. I am so excited about how the potential of these items can allow these students to learn how to make their story ideas come to life.

A good quality camera and camcorder will allow them to enhance their creative juices and build from vlogging and TikTok platforms in ways that will enhance the creative process and give them real-world experiences. The mobile speaker will allow them to playback video with quality sound as well as create music to be heard. The ability to speak through a microphone, songs, poetry, and speeches is a fine art to possess.

With this camera and supplies, I can incorporate lessons in depth of field, frame rate, lenses, settings, framing, and more. A typical lesson involves students getting hands-on practice behind the camera. They will learn the different settings and how to manipulate the camera to tell their stories. Plus, this camera has multiple uses and is used in the professional world in almost every videography and photography career.
