It's All About the Library: Breaking Out of the Ordinary

Help me give my students a BreakoutEDU kit to enhance their social and critical thinking skills in a fun and engaging way, and Lysol spray to keep the library clean and my students healthy.

My Students

My school is a Title I school that serves approximately 400 students in grades 6-8. Many of my students qualify for free or reduced-price lunch and some have no permanent home. Despite this, my students work extremely hard to overcome the many obstacles that they face on a daily basis

One of the best parts about my school is that we have such a diverse background of students.

Many may not come from prosperous backgrounds, but they soak up every opportunity they have to learn, and this project will help the library gain materials that will encourage my students to be critical thinkers, engaged in our lesson, and work on social skills.

BreakoutEDU is an amazing way to engage students in high-level critical thinking skills while also learning how to work well with others. In these games, my students will be working to solve puzzles on STEM topics such as genetics and coding, as well as other games across the curriculum. This type of game-based learning pushes students to give their all, and at a higher level than they thought possible. They are completely engaged for 60 minutes, while working together to solve the clues to breakout before the clock beats them.

I am happy to see over 200 students a day, but you can imagine how quickly illness can spread with energetic middle schoolers. Yikes! Students who are at home sick are losing valuable school time, and I want to do all that I can do to keep all of my students here, healthy, and learning! The Lysol will help us keep the library a clean, safe, and healthy place for them.
