My Project

Sensory integration is beneficial to all our children, especially those with social or emotional problems, activity level that is unusually high or low, difficulty with transitions from one situation to another, inability to calm self or unwind, delays in speech, language or motor skills, and delays in academic achievement.

By donating to our project, you will not only help to improve and increase student function in school, home, and community, you will also help their overall well-being.

Sensory integration will help our children overcome being overly sensitive to touch, movement, sights or sounds, under-reactive to touch, movement, sights or sounds, easily distracted, impulsive, or lacking self-control. The benefits of sensory integration include, modulation of sensory systems, self-regulation, improved independence with activities of daily living, maximized functional ability to perform daily and recreational activities, enhanced motor planning ability, involvement and exploration of their environments, and efficient organization of sensory information. The use of sensory integration activities WILL help our students improve their sensory processing, which will lead to improvements in behavior, communication, and social interactions.

All of these sensory tools will allow our students to access their environment in a way that is meaningful to them. For instance, the timers will be used across EC/Resource, Speech, and all K-1 classrooms to help our students that have difficulty transitioning. Our students are our future and their love for learning is only as good as the time and attention that we put into giving them access to their world in order to empower them.
