My Students

My students are energetic kids with a lot of potential. These students are hard workers that have optimism for learning. Students in my class are always striving to do their best.

My students love hands on activities as they are learning.

This class is full of kind students that deserve the world. Each student has their own fun personality that they bring to the classroom to make learning fun. These students are striving to become great readers in my class.

My Project

It is no secret that COVID has had a huge impact on the educational system. It is apparent in many of my 1st graders that they have gaps to be filled. I have resources in this project to fit each subject area I teach.

I can already see the smiles on my students faces when we use these items!

To help my students understand place value, I have included an abacus for each student as well as greater than and less than manipulative. It is so important that students not only understand numbers in first grade, but they also need to understand how those numbers are made and where they are coming from. These 2 items will help my students learn that. In first grade, students are also expected to know their addition and subtraction facts within 20. I have included some tests to give my students sufficient practice in math facts. My students understand the simple shapes in math, but they don't know shape names like trapezoid and rhombus. I included a fun tangram set to help my students learn their shapes in a fun and creative way.

To help my students excel in reading and writing, I have included fun hand pointers for the kids to use as they read their books, word lists, and passages every day. To help them reinforce their reading skills and practice their spelling, I also chose to ask for some wiki sticks. All of the other teachers already have these and they are so fun! Lastly, my students have poor fine motor skills. Some struggle to simply hold a pencil. To help improve their skills, I would love these pencil grips, Legos and floam. The kids can strengthen their hands and improve their skills without feeling like its a chore.
