Celebrate Black Teachers and Students

This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.

My Project

I teach a class full of inquisitive and active sixth graders. We live in a small community in Mississippi. My students come in each and every day with smiling faces ready to learn. Although our county and community do a fantastic job of trying to supply our needs, it is difficult to get everything we would like to have. I love that my students come to school everyday eager to learn.

My students are the future of our area and I want all of them to be successful.

I want to reward them with silent dance parties once a month. Having the silent headphones will allow students to listen to music while doing arts and crafts. There are several other classrooms on our hallway, so having the silent parties will work best. The students will thoroughly enjoy dancing and listening to music that no other class can hear.

In order to change our area for the better, we must do it through our children. One way this can happen is by equipping them with the best resources possible.
