My Students

Teaching with the current Common Core State Standards requires more than books, pencil and paper. My students have the challenge of working with today's technology such as an iPad and they do not have an iPad available to them.

This year I have a very diverse group of Fourth Grade students who come from a variety of economic situations.

My school is located in a large, metropolitan city. Since I teach in a Title 1 school, most of my class receives free or reduced lunch. Our class is made up of students who come to school with many educational needs. Luckily, I teach a group of children who are excited to come to school and learn. This is my second year with most of these students due to looping up from 3rd grade, and our classroom environment has shifted to a family atmosphere.

My Project

Change is a constant in the technology world. In addition to that, students in today's world are expected to have the resources available to them within the classroom to drive their learning and instruction. With this access to technology, my students will be able to take giant leaps as students, learners, and members of our society towards meeting their educational goals. Students in my classroom, with the iPad, will be able to instantly find answers literacy, math, science and social studies material. They will be able drive their own instruction through the discovery of information available on different applications on the iPad. Students will be using the iPad during small group work, as well as individual learning time. Perhaps what is most important, is that they will be able to recognize their potential as a learner, and their potential in our community.

Budget cutbacks are happening at an increasing rate in the education field.

More now than ever, teachers are relying on outside donations in order to have successful classrooms. Most of my students have never had the opportunity to use an iPad. Our children appreciate and hold donors to a high standard, because you are a part of helping our dreams come true. Thank you in advance for your donation!
