My students need DNA Necklace Kits to isolate their own DNA and explore the science of genetics.
I serve 130 students in my biology honor classes in the lowcountry of South Carolina. My high school represents a diverse population of approximately 2500 students with students from all backgrounds.
My students are aspiring professionals with the desire to learn.
I feel that every child deserves a high quality education and should be exposed to countless opportunities. I strive everyday to make sure my classroom is a rigorous, fun, and safe learning environment. My goal is for my students to learn something new each and everyday.
Students will have the opportunity to isolate their own DNA by carrying out a multi-step procedure scientific investigation. It is important that students are able to experience and practice conducting scientific investigations to better their scientific inquiry skills. These skills are necessary as they progress through the sciences in high school and beyond.
This DNA kit will allow them to make meaningful real world connections by witnessing firsthand one method of isolating their own DNA.
Students often see videos, images, or read about specific things they are learning, but not always able to experience some of those hands on components. This project will allow them to do so.
DonorsChoose makes it easy for anyone to help a classroom in need. Public school teachers from every corner of America create classroom project requests, and you can give any amount to the project that inspires you.
