Students will have the opportunity to isolate their own DNA by carrying out a multi-step procedure scientific investigation. It is important that students are able to experience and practice conducting scientific investigations to better their scientific inquiry skills. These skills are necessary as they progress through the sciences in high school and beyond. This DNA kit will allow them to make meaningful real world connections by witnessing firsthand one method of isolating their own DNA. Students often see videos, images, or read about specific things they are learning, but not always able to experience some of those hands on components. This project will allow them to do so.
