Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

This year, I will be teaching about thirty students. They are sweet, kind, and excited to start second grade. Moving from first grade (where they had round and rectangular tables) to second (where they have desks and chairs) is a change for them. I would like to make that change a smooth transition for them. They deserve that.

These leaders deserve a safe space where they are comfortable to learn and grow.

They deserve cozy spaces where they can read, sit and study. The old desks are clunky and take up a lot of space, leaving little room for their bodies and supplies.

My Project

The desks we currently have are bulky, it gets crowded quickly with all of those desks and chairs. We currently have nine crate seats, and they are the most coveted seats in the room. Students always want to sit in cozy spots.

The students love and opportunity to sit comfortably while learning.

This helps them stay engaged and motivated to model good behavior and good choices. The chosen seats (stools, pillows, wobble seats) would be comfortable, but provide minimal distractions/safety risks to the students while working. Seats would be used as incentives as well as alternative spaces during independent work time.

This project will directly impact historically underfunded classrooms.
