My Students

Help to put a song into the hearts of my kindergarten students. Dr. Jean's songs reinforce basic skills while providing students with the ability to get their hearts in shape too.

Currently I have 21 students in my kindergarten class.

My public school class is comprised of 13 boys and 8 girls. Our school is located in Louisiana. We are a Title 1 school, which means that we are comprised of low-socioeconomic households. Our school has 67% free or reduced lunch. Some students come to school without knowing basic skills like the Alphabet Song, colors or shapes. Dr. Jean has songs that address these issues in a fun way. Some of the students have never been to school and have trouble sitting still. Teaching skills through songs is another way to help the students.

My Project

Dr. Jean's songs are engaging. They provide creative activities to make learning fun. The students will be able to learn basic skills while singing and dancing. Not only will the CDs provide basic skills practice, but will also help to provide extra movement and activity time. The students think that they are playing, but in reality, they are learning. The movement also helps those students who cannot sit still. They are able to learn the way they do best, while moving.

Dr. Jean's CDs provide basic skills practice while providing the students with much needed movement time.

When the students are having fun while learning, they will retain the skills much better.

This project will directly impact historically underfunded classrooms.
