Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

My students are unique, intelligent, hilarious, and capable, but they are prone to energy spikes and lethargy valleys, which can affect their mood and motivation. Luckily, I see available solutions to their moods and motivation in nutrition and hygiene habits.

My students need access to healthier, more attractive food options than the free meals provided by the school, and you can help by donating!

Any of my students refuse to eat the lunch provided, so they are left to their own devices. Overworked, time-strapped parents must rely on schools for their children’s nutrition and health education.

Unfortunately, it is not enough! The contractors that provide food do not provide what is required. These contractors lack the competitors, capital, or incentives to innovate and deliver healthy, tasty, and attractive foods to kids. Ids love the wrong foods for themselves, just as we did at that age, but they cannot live off Cheetos and Takkis. Thankfully, we can begin supplementing nutrition and health education through student agencies that allow students to choose, and we can incentivize students to develop healthy habits that will benefit them and their communities for generations.

With your help procuring these resources, we will give students a choice to engage in two healthy habits (washing hands and face using sanitary, healthy, and gentle cleansing wipes and, after eating, flossing with a disposable flosser) and then, if they do they get a choice of one or two snacks curated for their health benefits. Indbars are great for energy; seaweed has great electrolyte content with no sugar, ginger has excellent digestion and anti-inflammatory, and dark chocolate is filled with antioxidants. And supplementing the health and hygiene of my students, they’re worth every cent.
