Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
I teach at a Title I school where ninety-five percent of our students qualify for free or reduced-price lunch. Eighty percent of our students go home to non-English speaking families. Some of our students are the only English speaking people in their family!
I make it my goal every year to supply my students with the supplies they need and hands-on experiences that they wouldn't get elsewhere.
I love it when my students finish an activity and say what a great time they had and how much they learned! Our students are very bright and deserve every opportunity they get!
My Project
My students need snacks to keep them going during the day. Our school has always had 96-98% of our students on free and reduced lunch but since Hurricane Irma hit our families have been more in need than ever before! Many of our families lost their homes and everything in them. By having a few snacks a day the students will feel uplifted. Small, healthy snacks will help student's bellies full so the can focus on their work and do well in school.
Hurricane Irma may have torn our town apart but we will not let her get us down!
