My school is a Title I school located in a small rural town. Over a third of the population in our community has income below the poverty level, and my students are not exempt. They are from low-income families and do not have the financial resources for the latest learning tools. Yet, my students are AMAZING! My students are an energetic and curious group of learners who come to class each day ready for a new challenge. They deserve a chance to manipulate exciting technologies to improve their academic performance.
My students are intelligent, eager to learn, and always welcome excitement in the classroom.
My students are creative, resourceful and multifaceted with the potential to impact and elicit positive change in our society. What makes my students special is the fact that they are yet to recognize their talents and abilities.
My students need iPod Touches to bring some excitement to math learning. All students, especially my visual and kinesthetic learners, will use the iPods to access videos, photos, and music to make learning tasks more meaningful and purposeful. They will also use this technology to download various educational Apps that will help them grasp and understand challenging math concepts.
These versatile devices are easy to use and will transform our ordinary math class into a student-centered oasis with high levels of student engagement and motivation.
As students use the iPods to access a variety of educational applications, this technology will provide challenging work that provides feedback and guidance as they go. Whether helping the students who need enrichment activities or as a motivational tool, the iPod Touches will help students make noticeable gains with their academic performance.
The charging station will be used to organize and secure the iPods Touches as well as keep the accessories tidy and intact. The idea of a charging station will encourage responsible learning and help students understand the importance of maximizing instructional time and learning beyond the confinements of the classroom.
The use of the iPods Touches will improve students' confidence in math and help them become the ‘Mathletes’ I know they can be.
