My Students

Do you know what feels like to be excited about learning something? Have you ever been in the presence of a child with an iPod? If you answered yes to any of those questions than you have experienced and witnessed what it is like to learn with an iPod. Kids love iPods! Kids indulge in learning while using iPods. On the iPod students may read books, have books read to them, and experience learning through hundreds of educational apps and games. The iPod is simply amazing. However, because of funding, schools do not provide iPods to the classroom. Therefore, I am requesting for my class to receive another iPod so that my kids may use the iPod during center time.

We live in a military city so my students are very diverse when it comes to educational, financial, and ethnic backgrounds.

Although the students have different backgrounds they still have some of the same common interests: technology, sports, toys, games, and television. While some of my students are more fortunate to be exposed to the latest technology and current events in their home, I still have some students that will only have access to these items through school.

My Project

I am requesting that my class receives an iPod Touch 4th generation with all of the accommodating accessories so that we can properly take care of and indulge in greater technological learning experiences. For example, I am requesting an iPod speaker so that my students can listen to podcasts and our Reading Series in small groups. I am requesting a Nike iPod kit to use as a measurement tool in class as well as a measurement tool after school for our Girls on the Run program. Also, I am requesting iPod cases for this iPod and the past two iPods ordered through the Donors Choose program.

This project is so important to me because it will provide my students with another opportunity to learn through technology that may not be available for them to use at home.

My students love iPods, and unfortunately this is my only resource to acquiring them through an organizations such as this.
