Iraq, Chile, Japan, Guatemala, America, and Spain are the countries where my kindergarten students come from-- some just months ago! There are over 5 different languages spoke in my classroom and students from every economic background.
The diversity in my class is beautiful.
However, teaching can be a challenge with students all over the map in their language development skills. I have students who speak no English and students who are reading. I have students who can count to 50 and students who can count to 10.
The climate in my classroom in one full of laughter, love, and acceptance, and I want that to continue and to foster their educational growth in the easiest ways possible.
My Project
My school currently only has 10 iPads for the entire school. I want to have iPads in the classroom to help with student learning. There are so many educational apps that can meet students where they are, and help grow them in all content areas. Also, because these students come from such a wide background, some have never been able to experience a tablet before, and with the way the world is moving in technology, these are needed skills.
My school district has provided some great resources, but with only 3 computers in the classroom and one set of iPads for the whole school, I can't use the programs to their full potential.
In this project, I am requesting 2 iPads to use in the classroom.
iPads are easier for young learners to use and will make stations in my classroom more enriched because they will be able to work independently while still getting instruction! I hope you see how worth it this really is!
