Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
My 5th grade students are curious, capable, and ready to take on real-world challenges. One of the most important lessons I can give them is how to make smart financial choices. This project will provide three iPads to help my students dive into an interactive, engaging unit on financial literacy - including budgeting, banking, investing, credit cards, and even understanding mortgages.
With access to iPads, my students will be able to explore real-world scenarios through simulations, financial literacy games, and apps that bring theses essential concepts to life.
They'll learn how to create budgets, compare credit card interest rates, research stock investments, and understand how borrowing money works. The iPads will also allow us to access financial tools and online resources that aren't available in our traditional textbooks.
These lessons aren't just about numbers - they're about building lifelong skills in Las Vegas, Nevada. Many of my students come from communities where financial education is limited and giving them this knowledge now empowers them to make smart choices in the future.
