My Students

I work at an inclusive school in Los Angeles that serves all students, no matter their needs. My school fosters such a sense of community, I know we are helping students to make kinder and more mindful choices now and in the future.

My school places an emphasis, not only on this sense of community, but on hands-on learning experiences and project-based learning.

This builds our students' confidence and sense of social responsibility while addressing rigorous contents standards at the same time.

My Project

Because our school focuses on inclusion, I serve a group of students with immensely diverse needs every year. This includes many students on the spectrum or with learning disabilities or have ADHD who would greatly benefit from the use of hands-on technology like iPads, but do not receive these services through their IEPs. And, let's face it, these five requested iPads are going to need loads of protection from my overactive and excitable kiddos so I have asked for protective cases.

I believe that all students have 'special needs' in that every student learns in their own way, at their own pace, and have varying degrees of interest in different areas.

To me, having a class set of iPads which students could work on during group time would be immensely beneficial in creating meaningful and engaging activities surrounding word work, reading fluency, math concepts, coding, science, engineering, history, art, and more.

Kids learn so much more when they actually manipulate what they're learning with their own hands!
