This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Have you heard that for every two years of school, children with math disabilities acquire about one year of mathematical proficiency?

Many of my students have an incomplete mastery of number facts, a requirement in the earliest of grades and an essential skill in approaching more advanced mathematical thinking.

For a few, this is due to incomplete elementary schooling; however, most of my students have computational weaknesses which tend to bog them down with simple calculations and prohibit them from properly progressing through the algebraic processes demanded in Algebra Preparation courses.

My Project

Your support will help enhance and deepen my students' mathematical understanding through the use of two iPads. Today's technology is the key to helping students overcome boundaries to reach the ever demanding state standards. It will also help them deepen their understanding of math concepts and gain success with common core standards. On a daily basis students will be able to practice basic computation skills necessary to gain proficiency using apps such as Factor Samurai and access further explanations using Khan Academy videos.

Students' interaction with technology is "normal" and using iPads will increase their focus, extend learning time, and ensure increased engagement and more creative problem solving.
