This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
Technology is one way to increase student engagement. The iPad is a powerful learning tool that is transforming the way we teach and learn. Students learn differently. With iPads, I can teach all of my students the same lesson in different ways to fit their learning styles.
My kindergarten students are an enthusiastic group of 22 five and six year olds.
They are eager to explore and discover. Our school serves students from prekindergarten to fifth grade. Our school is located in the southeast corridor of East Atlanta. We are a Title 1 school. Many of the students receive free or reduced lunch.
My Project
My students need 2 more iPads with covers to use in Learning Centers. My goal is to have classroom iPads for each student. Basic concepts for reading and math will be reinforced with the students as they engage in learning. This will assist me in differentiating their independent instruction. In the Literacy Center, I will use the iPads to teach letter/sound recognition, phonemic awareness, sight words, vocabulary, and reading fluency. In the Math Center, the iPads will be used to help practice math facts, counting, number recognition, ordering, sequencing, addition, and subtraction.
The iPads will be used to help practice, reteach, and enrich literacy and math skills and concepts.
The apps will allow me to individualize instruction whether the students need remediation or enrichment.
