My Students

Do you remember your first computer? Mine was an Apple IIe. It's amazing how much computers have changed since that time. My students would use the iPads in the classroom to help with science, technology, engineering, and math.

My seventh and eighth grade students live in a very diverse community and come to me with varied experiences.

They are extremely curious and definitely thrive on technology. I believe that it is my responsibility to provide them with as many tools as possible to compete in this world of science and technology.

My Project

I have requested 2 iPads for student use. My classroom is activity-based; STEM focused, where the student is at the center of all experiences. These interactive technologies will help involve all students in the lessons while capturing their attention and introducing them to many broad and encompassing activities. There are many science apps that my students could use to increase their understanding of genetics, cells, anatomy, motion and chemistry. iPads inspire creativity and hands-on learning on a device that students really want to use. Students can engage with content in interactive ways, find information, and access many apps. By introducing some iPads into my classroom, I can allow the students to work and create in smaller cooperative groups. This will allow students to see that school, and especially science, can connect to their everyday lives.

With your help, I'd like to foster greater enthusiasm for science by improving my STEM focused classroom.
