Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Every day we start class by reciting our Daily Affirmation to remind us to take pride in ourselves, our work and our futures. We declare that the reason we go to school is to "TO GET A GOOD EDUCATION, TO GO TO COLLEGE AND TO ACHIEVE OUR DREAMS!"

My students are an enthusiastic and curious group.

Although I have only known them for a short time, they have already shown that they are eager to learn and ready for the challenges of fourth grade! Our school is located in East Oakland, where the challenges inside and outside of school are many, but these students show up to school every morning with bright eyes and smiles, ready to tackle whatever life throws at them.

My Project

It is my job to make sure that my students are middle school ready, high school ready and college ready. To be competitive in today's world, they need to gain proficiency in technology at an elementary age. These iPads will provide my students with access to the internet and to applications that will enhance their literacy, math and science/engineering schools. I will be downloading apps including but not limited to: Rocket Solver, Google Earth, Hop Scotch, NASA Visualization Explorer and My Math (to go directly along with our current math curriculum). We will use the iPads during math centers, literacy centers and at other times throughout our school day.

Donations to this project would make a world of difference for my students!

It would put the world of technology at their fingertips. With access to iPads my students would be able to increase their technological proficiency while also building other academic skills including coding, engineering, basic math skills and literacy. Further, the iPads would let students work at their independent levels, at their own pace and based on their unique interests.
