Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
I am a 21st century teacher trying to teach my students life long skills. I currently have a personal ipad which I share with my students in my classroom. They love using it for centers and it is full of great learning apps. I would like to give my students more opportunities to use technology.
Since it is summer, I currently do not have a group of students but am excited to meet my new set of students very soon.
First graders are very eager and are excited to learn new things. They love hands-on activities where they get to participate and be involved and engaged. They love technology and learning how to work computers, iPads, and completing activities on the smartboard. We try to incorporate technology as much as possible in our classroom everyday. Our school is in a low-income community so many of my students do not have the chance to use this kind of technology at home.
My Project
I plan to use the iPad in many different ways. It's main purpose is to use at a center station, there is a sight word app that my students currently love using. I am a big fan of the EPIC! app where students can read books from the iPad. There are a lot of other apps that I want to explore to put on the iPad to continue to give them 21st century experiences. We also need a protective case to keep the iPad safe.
Technology is such a vital part of our world, I want to introduce how it can be used as a learning tool.
Technology is also a great motivator for students. They love to use the iPad and do not even realize they are learning. With teacher assistance's being taken away, the EPIC! app can read the book to the students that need that practice. They can also practice common sight words, the opportunities are endless. This will help expand their learning.
