Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
As a third year special education teacher in a Title l school district, I work with a unique and diverse group of 6-8th graders with varying backgrounds, languages, and life experiences. They come to school with a variety of academic, social, and behavioral needs. My middle schoolers are eager to learn but I am unable to provide them with the tools necessary to prepare them for a technologically advanced world. Despite the many challenges they face, it is my passion and responsibility to provide quality individualized instruction every day to meet the needs of my unique students.
This project would reach urban middle school students in special education who need technology to support their learning.
My students recognize every day that they do not have iPads in their math classroom. This project advocates for the rights of students in special education; their learning abilities or educational placement should not dictate the learning opportunities they receive in middle school. Together, we can ensure that my students receive the rich technology-integrated math instruction that they deserve in a 21st-century classroom!
My Project
In my school, special education students do not have iPads for math instruction. Integrating iPads into my students' daily math instruction will impact their learning through the use of apps and online programs to help them make progress in math and bridge their academic gaps. Technology in the classroom will enhance their education by preparing them for life in a technologically advanced world.
My amazing students deserve access to technology-integrated math instruction and should not be excluded from this opportunity!
Without classroom technology, my students do not have access to 21st-century math instruction. They need iPads for math centers, projects, fact fluency, progress monitoring, online tutoring, and completing math assignments on a daily basis.
