My Project

Kindergarteners start the year with many students brand new to school and without knowing all letters and numbers. This can make accessing online adaptive learning programs (such as Dreambox math and Lexia reading) and resources (such as Epic! online library, and Pebblego research) difficult and frustrating for them to access.

iPads remove many of the barriers for these new learners with touch screen capabilities and/or scan to access QR codes.

Currently, students are assigned Chromebooks to use throughout their elementary school career. However, at the beginning of the year, students struggle to enter the required login information as they may not know all their letters, may be new to English, and/or may be unfamiliar with the layout of a keyboard as the keys are not in ABC order. Having these iPads in the classroom will also reduce the need for these five-year-old students to carry Chromebooks back and forth from home during the winter months.
