I am part of an elementary school whose staff is deeply invested in the making of strong, kind, helpful members that will add to positive influences into our society.
We have an Extended Kindergarten program to help provide interventions to Kinder students who are in need of support with reading skills.
We have found this to be very beneficial and has shown that this early intervention gives most students a strong foundation for success in their continued education. We fund this program entirely without subsidy because we feel it to be the BEST intervention we can provide for our students. We also provide continued small group reading intervention to track and support these Kinders as they progress through their grades up to 5th. It is my job to teach, track and support these students with my team of paraprofessionals. We are in need of 2 iPads to help with the support of and tracking of our at-risk learners. The iPads will be used for student use with helpful apps that help with their learning and also will be used to assess and track their progress. Our current iPads are worn out and funds are needed to replace them.
iPads for students increase their abilities in reading and language arts. The iPads are also a VERY important tool for assessing progress and helping our students advance in monitoring reading skills daily throughout their primary grade experience. Our intervention program is in great need of technology equipment like iPads.
Language arts apps are shown to help individual reading levels increase significantly when used in structured language arts classes.
The new iPads work well for our remedial readers to enhance their interaction and interest with letters, sounds, phonemic awareness and phonics skills. These are the very foundation of everyone's reading skills and abilities.
