Individual interventions are a very important part of helping students with their reading skills. Every student needs specific care in the areas of reading needs. Some students need phonemic awareness intervention for success. Some need a stronger foundation in language use, or comprehension skills. Some need more work with sentence structure of accuracy. It is important to target which skills are weak and then give them the individual leveled foundational interventions that the student need. Finding and focusing on those intricate skills takes individual pinpointing. Apps available on iPads are a very helpful tool to hone in on and make available to the students the individual intervention skills they are in need of. Our Language Arts reading intervention program at our school is in need of technological help to provide these students what they are lacking. Grade level teachers are provided tools as a whole, but our intervention program gets left out when it comes to funding for these things. Our need is great and the funding for these tools would be so greatly appreciated.
