My classroom is filled with twenty-three, first graders eager to learn through various experiences, share their knowledge with one another and work to become an active student in our school community.
In my classroom, students get the opportunity to learn with a variety of tools, including iPads.
We use the iPads to share what we are working on in different academic areas on Seesaw to keep parents and guardians involved. I have the ability to differentiate instruction in all academic areas to allow every student to feel successful and make academic progress. Students can listen to digital books to allow those that are unable to read on their own, the ability to listen and follow along to increase their vocabulary. We and reinforce how important books are in their early years.
Having access to iPads will allow me to teach students hands-on and give them the opportunities to continue their academic growth.
My Project
If we had access to two more iPads in our classroom, I would be able to provide even more differentiation in reading, writing, math and STEM.
Students could access these iPads during their assigned center time to complete assigned tasks at their academic level independently.
I would also be able to use the iPads in small groups to reinforce topics, play academic games (OSMO) and teach students about digital citizenship and the importance of being safe online.
Students will also have access to Seesaw to post their work to share with their families immediately. Students will be able to take pictures of their work, write about it or record their thoughts before sending to their family.
