Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
Our classroom is a fun, safe, and engaging space for students to learn and not be afraid to make mistakes. With the help of some up-to-date technology the students will improve academically. Our school currently has the license to great academic programs such as iready, MyOn and iExcel- however our kids often don't have the technology at home to benefit from them. There are currently no iPads available for our 4th graders to use on a regular basis.
With this funding we can get iPads which will service a small group of students that can be rotated so that the whole class will be able to work on the program throughout the week!
Our school is a Title 1 school in Manhattan serving the community's children grades Pre-K to 5th grade. The student body is 97% children of minority background, majority low-income and a high population of ELL's/Special Education students. My class is a 4th grade ICT classroom with a large ratio of special needs.
My Project
The school has access to iReady however many students don't have the technology at home to use it! iReady is amazing for offering students targeted and fun lessons in ELA and Math at their level. Please help make this come true for them!
My students are very hard workers and our job as teachers is to try and expose them to as much as possible.
With these iPads we can optimize our workshop period to have a small group doing differentiated math and literacy work. They will be so excited for this new opportunity if we can achieve it.
