My students are amazing and I am in awe of how they learn and grow each day we spend together. They come to school full of excitement, ready to try new activities and do their best. I have the joy of teaching early childhood students with disabilities in an inclusive 4K setting. In our classroom, everyone is a four year old child first. We explore, create, build and play together despite challenges we may face. My students may learn differently but they are just as much a part of our class as every other student. We have a strong sense of belonging in our classroom and work hard to create a warm and loving learning environment for all students.
Using technology for learning will give me another resource to use with my students with disabilities. Our current curriculum has an online portal that my students can access at school to reinforce concepts we are learning through fun and interactive games. This is motivational and developmentally appropriate for my students with disabilities. It provides them an opportunity to be independent in their learning and reinforce skills taught in the classroom.
In addition, I can download apps that will support self-regulation, communication, daily living skills and other essential skills my students require for future skill development.
iPads are incredible learning tools for my students.
