Celebrate Black Teachers and Students

This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.

My Students

Help our students close the digital divide! Our students are prepared to use technology to show their mastery of computer art. Through having computer related materials to use in the art classroom my students will catch up with other students their age through computer related assignments.

Our school is located in an urban setting where the students are enthusiastic and very much willing to learn.

These eager young beings report to school every day to learn, research, create, and explore. The school setting is warm and inviting and parents play a vital role in assisting the teachers with student's learning. With school district cuts, many of the classrooms are limited with technology items. When afforded the opportunity to use computer items our student's more than excel. The "Mighty Tiger" student's curriculum is STEM based which means that technology plays a vital role in student learning. Our school has been somewhat successful in meeting most of the students academic needs. However, we are still attempting to help our students match the learning curve of students who reside in wealthier neighborhoods.

My Project

An iPad and flash drives will be used to help my students' share media and content across the curriculum. Student's will explore drawing and painting, animation, graphic design, and movie making. My students' will learn how to share their digital content when presenting their presentations to the class. Having an iPad would allow my students to work collaboratively to develop group projects. Additionally, students will work on their own to discover the wonderful world of digital art. Students will learn how to create devices with the iPad that will serve as a tool for collaboration, communication and research. Students will use apps such as Tango, FaceTime, and Skype to connect with art students in the region and around the world. Lastly, students will learn how to merge traditional art making processes with innovative content, techniques and ways of thinking.

Donations to this project will make a difference in the technological lives of my students' through helping my students' to catch up with the digital divide.

Through meeting the students' technology needs you will open the art room door to students' learning new digital concepts. These student's will develop a technology foundation which will lead them to an appreciation of technology and a STEM career.
