Bill Gates said, "Technology is just a tool. In terms of getting the kids working together and motivating them, the teacher is most important." We have the teacher, but we need the technology.
My students are faced with daily struggles and barriers that get in the way of their learning.
Most are on free or reduced lunch. They come to school to learn and to be a part of a safe and caring environment. They also come to school in order to take part in experiences that will help them be successful in the future. It is often times a struggle to motivate them to want to learn or engage them in learning activities.
The students that I teach are really motivated by using iPads. They work on spelling and math activities and enjoy the many wonders they can explore through this technology. Several students have also improved their behavior since we have been using the iPad in our room. However, it is difficult to find time for every child to use it throughout the day. An iPad can provide endless opportunities for students not only with the introduction of technology but also with providing multiple ways of learning. Not all students can learn from listening, many are visual learners, while others need a hands-on approach. Having another iPad will benefit students by allowing more students to benefit from this technology. Having another iPad will motivate more students to become better readers and inspire them to reach their goals.
Please help bring another iPad to our classroom so that more students can be motivated and engaged in learning.
The iPads we currently have motivate positive behavior as well as engage students while they use them for working on language arts, reading, and math skills.
